Re-enforced Steel Cages
Author - DSM Fabrication
Rebar short for reinforcing bar is a steel bar or mesh of steel wires. This is used as a tension device in concrete and masonry structures to strengthen and hold the concrete in compression. Rebar significantly increases the strength of the structure.
Rebar's surface is patterned to form a better bond with the concrete. Whilst concrete is strong in compression, it is relatively weak in tension. By casting rebar into the concrete it is then able to carry high tensile loads and increase the overall strength.
We can supply rebar in their loose components or welded together to form cages.
Advantages of rebar in its loose components:
- Lighter to manouver onsite
- Can be layed more accuratly in uneven trenches
Advantages of welded rebar cages:
- Free's up man power on sight
- Speeds up laying the slab
